EU objectors target county

Lancashire Evening Post

A National cross-party campaign, demanding a referendum on the EU Constitutional Treaty, is set to crank up its activity in Lancashire.

In recent months the "I want a referendum" (IWR) campaign has been marshalling support and planning stunts - including one in Preston - ahead of a major showdown when parliament returns from the recess.

IWR North West chairman Alan Halsall said the region is a vital area for the campaign with its seven million population and its £106bn economy.
